Nice quaint breakfast stop. Excellent service. Food was good, great grits and scrambled eggs with cheese.

I usually go for breakfast food and it's a great value. You can get a large amount of delicious food for a good deal. The space may be a little cramped for some people though.

Food is very good. Large portions. The size of the wait staff is small so we typically get the same waiter every time we go. His service is excellent. The only thing keeping it from being five-stars is an old building with decor from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Despite the age of the place the tables are kept clean.

I have never felt compelled to write a review until today. One of the worst breakfast experiences I have ever had.The place is dirty, dead spiders and spider webs on the ceiling and walls, crumbs of food on the floor, fans are covered in dust or falling apart.The waitress was never around. She lied to us about the menu when we didn't get one of the sides that were supposed to come with the meal. She took 10 minutes to process our check. She was not vigilant to our needs at all.The food was not good either. The manager at one point came out and was being obnoxious to his customers. IHOP is just down the street.

I'm a diner fan. They normally have the best breakfasts and this one is about what you'd expect. Solid quality and reasonable bang for your buck. I'd go back.

The food here was absolutely exceptional. It was the epitome of delicious comfort food. The portions were huge and extremely satisfying. The service was outstanding and I would definitely visit again!

Could not give it more than 1 star. Water served had some brown inclusion in a cup and had to be replaced. Butter served in plastic mini-cup also had 2 brown inclusions. Cole slaw salad was spoiled and not edible. Beef chili was not fresh and did not taste good. Seating spaces are microscopical. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

One dollar sign?! It should be THREE. So expensive for a tiny dish which is tasteless and rubberish. The staff is rude, they smell like cigarettes. The Indian looking guy looks like he hates his job; always yelling at the staff and customers. Do not go to this place unless you like to eat a zero tasting calorie rubber toy. Disgusting rundown place

Nice cozy restaurant with a nice old fashioned feel. Food was good and hot. And services was excellent open 7days a week and serves breakfast all day.

Terrific service. Attention given to refills in my coffee. Tasty French toast cooked perfectly for me. I like my corned beef hash crispy and it was perfect. Will come back if in the area.

I used to go to this place all the time as a kid..its change some.now that its changed ownership ..but it's still cool

I am visiting DC otherwise I would eat here everyday! The food was so delicious and there was a lot of it. You have to try their bloody marys😃😍. Yes they also do alcoholic drinks! I will definitely be back.

Cream chip beef over medium eggs over biscuits is BOMB....as are the hashbrowns. Place isn't immaculate but staff and owner were super friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be bringing my family back!

My best girl and I decided to check out a new place to eat for us. She saw the magic skillet online and so we went, the food was amazing and we'll worth the price, big portions for all you big eaters out there. Honestly not one complaint.

The food was amazing for a small diner type place... the service was great.. the staff was great.. the place itself looked to be in an old building... and needs some cleaning,, seen alot of cobwebs also,,, otherwise an over all nice place,, would definitely go back

Food was ok(bland). Waitress was courteous and attentive. The restaurant itself is extremely run down. Our table was dirty, spider webs almost in every corner, the bathroom 🤢 they only had a dish detergent bottle (it felt watered down) to wash your hands. I was honestly afraid of ending up sick after eating the food. I think with a lot of TLC and maybe a revamp on the menu this place could have a lot of potential. Giving 3 stars solely on the service.

I liked it and the kids loved their food. Definitely has a feel of like an old school small town, family diner. Staff was friendly and kind. My husband didn't like the omelette he ordered, he didn't know it came with American cheese in it. I thought the eggs Benedict was good but one of the eggs was a bit overcooked. The potatoes were bomb though.

Food was decent diner food. Nothing to complain about. Finished our meal and used the restroom. The restroom had dish soap and no hand towels or drier in it. Watched the cook walk in and come out of the bathroom with an apron still on. Then went back into the kitchen and later started stocking dishes on a shelf. Floor was sticky and our shoes like stuck to the floor. Sufficiently grossed me out

The service was great the food was excellent. Didn't have to wait long nice atmosphere. Straight from the door Down Home Country atmosphere.

I do a lot of food reviews so I am somewhat of a food snob. ;) I'm telling you straight, this place is a hidden gem for breakfasts. The service was great! The food was cooked well and very tasty. The waitress even got the cook to make me something that was not on the menu. Cinnamon Toast never tasted better! The price was very good. I highly recommend this place! I f you haven't tried it, you should!

I have an overall positive impression but a few things to be prepared for: tight quarters (smallish tables close together); a bit pricey (breakfast for four was $68)...although I had steak and eggs; and the place has bit of an odd smell/odor (maybe it's all the cool antiques). Service was really fast (even though our Waiter, Steve, was new and going through training), the portions were large, and the food tasted really good!

Service was good. I heard the breakfast is good, however it was later in the afternoon and I wasn't feeling breakfast so I ordered off the lunch menu. The crab cakes were horrible. No flavor, dry, overcooked. I had to smother it in ketchup (yes, because even the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were inedible). Mac n cheese has no flavor. The only thing that was possibly edible were the fries and dinner roll. Only giving 2 stars because the server was nice and you can tell they really are trying. It has potential, it's just not there yet.

I only pushed 1 star so I can write a review otherwise that I give them a 0... I ate here about 6 months ago and it was not good. So I seen a help wanted sign in the window so I called they told me I would have to come in to talk about it so I did so, inly to have the owner look at me and say no we are not hiring so why the sign in the window he looked and said sorry. First off I can cook very very well and probably could have helped their reviews out 100%. So I wanted to let folks know if a black person can't work there we shouldn't eat there as well. I went in looking well kept up and he looked at my color and said no. Bad business when you look down on a person for their color.

Usually a really good place for a good hot meal. Especially for breakfast. Good sized servings so you won't be leaving hungry. Yes..it looks a bit worn and dated..but well worth the time.

One of the best Diners on Route 1. Knocks IHop & Denny's out of the park honestly. My recommendation is the french toast with any omelette.

If you are looking for a straight up all American style breakfast this is the place. The Magic Skillet with pancakes was fantastic. Also enjoyed the Magic Platter with French toast and corned beef hash. Will definately be back. Coffee was very good. They are open early.

We frequent this restaurant for breakfast often. It is not fancy looking but it is always clean. We have always had great service and the food is excellent. They even offer a military discount.

Elise's is a dependable neighborhood establishment. The food is basic but good. The service staff has low turnover, so you get some familiarity if you're in there a couple times monthly or so.In the photo, I am working through my usual: meatlover omelette, grits, whole wheat toast. Keeps me going all day!
